Seven useful destinations

Choose among PNG, WebP, AVIF, still GIF, BMP, PDF, and ICO. Each route explains the output and any trade-offs.

JPG and JPEG together

Both extensions are accepted by this workspace. There is no need to rename a .jpeg photo before you start.

Photos stay on this device

The selected photo is processed in your browser. This converter does not upload it to a conversion server.

Keep the original dimensions

Ordinary PNG and WebP exports use the decoded photo dimensions. The ICO route creates a smaller icon by design.

A practical photo workflow

Make a separate result for the next app while keeping your original JPG. A new extension cannot recover detail already lost in the source.

A separate batch workspace

Have several photos? The batch image converter handles groups. This format page keeps its single-file workflow simple.

THREE SIMPLE STEPS

How to convert a JPG file

01

Choose a JPG photo

Select a .jpg or .jpeg file from this device. A phone photo saved as HEIC needs another supported converter first.

02

Match the output to its use

Choose PNG for a decoded editing copy, WebP for a web asset, PDF for a document, or ICO for a small icon.

03

Save and inspect the copy

Run the conversion and download the result. Compare its appearance and file size before replacing anything in your workflow.

ABOUT THE FORMAT

Understanding a JPG before choosing its next format

JPG is a raster photo format: the image is made of pixels, and its usual compression trades some information for a manageable file size. Photographs often suit that trade-off better than screenshots with tiny text or hard-edged diagrams.

The names JPG and JPEG refer to the same image format. Changing between those two filename extensions does not provide a quality upgrade. Choose a genuinely different output here when the receiving app, document, or publishing workflow calls for it.

Keep the original photo as your reference. Converting to PNG does not make blurred details sharp, and converting to an icon reduces the available pixels. Browser-rendered image exports should also be checked if camera metadata or exact color reproduction matters.

YOUR FORMAT QUESTIONS

JPG converter FAQ

Can this page open a .jpeg file?

Yes. The picker accepts .jpg and .jpeg files, and both use the JPG conversion choices.

Which JPG output should I choose?

PNG can serve as a decoded working copy; WebP and AVIF offer web image encodings. GIF provides a limited-color still, BMP provides uncompressed RGB, PDF creates a document page, and ICO creates a small icon. Each route explains its limits.

Can PNG restore detail in a compressed JPG?

No. The PNG contains the pixels decoded from the photo; it cannot reconstruct information discarded when the JPG was made.

Can I convert several JPG photos here?

This page selects one source photo. Use the batch image converter for a group, or the JPG to PDF tool to place several supported photos on separate document pages.

What is the JPG file limit?

The file limit is 25 MB. AVIF, GIF, and BMP routes have a 12-million-pixel limit; other image routes use their existing canvas limits.
